在1927年的“七一五”反革命政变中，为了营救共产党员任致远，夏恒煊慨然赴死，留下妹妹夏雨竹与丫头霜菊相依为命。柔弱的雨竹独自谋生，霜菊则在恒煊恋人肖成碧的引荐下加入了国民党特务组织。几年后雨竹偶然营救了任致远。致远牺牲后，雨竹受感召成为中共地下情工作人员，与此同时霜菊在特务组织内获得重用和提拔。抗战爆发，雨竹和霜菊再次相见，却为了各自的任务针锋相对。雨竹发现肖成碧的弟弟肖君浩和自己承担着共同的使命，两人在战斗中相知相爱。1949年国民党败逃台湾，雨竹毅然前往台湾执行任务，被身为保密局军官的霜菊发现。为了信仰，雨竹在霜菊面前从容赴死，霜菊被震撼。雨竹在胜利的前夜用生命谱写了一曲壮丽的信仰之歌。
In the "715" counterrevolutionary coup of 1927, Xia Hengxuan sacrifices himself in order to rescue Communist Party member Ren Zhiyuan, leaving behind his sister Xia Yuzhu and maid Shuangju to rely on each other. The fragile Yuzhu struggles to make a living on her own, while Shuangju, introduced by Hengxuan's lover Xiao Chengbi, joins the Nationalist Party's secret service organization. Years later, Yuzhu accidentally rescues Ren Zhiyuan. After Ren sacrifices himself, Yuzhu is inspired to become an underground member of the Communist Party, while Shuangju rises through the ranks within the secret service organization. When the war against Japan breaks out, Yuzhu and Shuangju meet again but find themselves on opposite sides due to their respective missions. Yuzhu discovers that Xiao Junhao, Chengbi's younger brother, shares a common mission with her, and the two fall in love amidst the battles. In 1949, as the Nationalist Party flees to Taiwan, Yuzhu bravely goes there to carry out her mission, only to be discovered by Shuangju, who is now a military officer in the secret service. For her beliefs, Yuzhu calmly sacrifices herself in front of Shuangju, leaving her deeply moved. On the eve of victory, Yuzhu composes a magnificent song of faith with her life.
